My Year Begins on 1st October

Everything in my small business world starts from 1st October. The busiest season for Corpse Wax is "Spooky Season" because every good market has a Halloween date, and suddenly everyone starts thinking they might want to commission a piece as a gift for someone. Personally, I despise the summer heat so summer events are my least favourite to do. I try not to do markets in August. The sweating! The sweating and the heavy lugging of boxes! Nightmare. I hate to leave the house when it's sunny so I'm much more sociable in autumn and winter. I think there is a clear division among the lizard people who enjoy the summer and the polar bear people who enjoy the winter time.

You'll see on my front page all my upcoming events and there's even more to be confirmed. Between now and Christmas you'll find me in Chatham, London, Birkenhead, Brighton, and back to London again. Two of these events I run myself which is a whole other kettle of fish preparation wise.

First up we start with Broken Heart Bazaar which is the event I run with two very powerful women in aid of the British Heart Foundation. We have 3 floors of more than 40 artists, fully lift accessible and a cafe onsite with incredible views of the River Medway. We've been running this one for more than 3 years now and we've made thousands of pounds for the charity.

Next, the market which gave me my start, Satanic Flea Market. It's iconic. It's huge. It's hectic. It's inspiring. Until you've seen it for yourself it's quite hard to believe just how huge this event is. The SFM was my first ever market and I remember almost shitting myself from anxiety in the build up... and then I arrived. Everyone I met was so kind and so welcoming.

Next we have Glorified Cabaret's Halloween event, Theatres des Vampires in Birkenhead. The best fat-liberationist event I have been to. The crowd that surrounds this thing is second-to-none and they don't even mind that I'm from the South East.

Lastly, very soon I will be able to tell you about my next pop up. This one is going by the name Goths of Yule and will be happening on the 6th December. There's a few more little details to iron out and then I'll be able to tell you where we are going to be in Brighton and which special artists will be joining in. Keep your eyes peeled...
